The Kaleidoscope Leadership Institute is fortunate to have a number of passionate individuals who give their time and expertise to make us better in all we do. They are a diverse group of people with training and proven skills in the fields of law, business, marketing, project management, tourism, and more. We are pleased to have them as part of the Kaleidoscope family.

Ms. Michelle Osborne is a consultant to Kaleidoscope. A former prosecutor and trial lawyer, her work focuses on leadership development for girls and women, equity and social justice issues, and the prevention of violence against women and children. Michelle has held leadership positions in statewide and local organizations, including serving as an appointed commissioner to a county Commission on the Status of Women. She has chaired the board of a women’s human rights leadership institute, and directed a rape crisis center.  Inquisitive and creative, she uses her legal training and research skills to explore the societal and cultural roles of women in positions of power and leadership. She has developed and successfully implemented curricula on topics exploring social justice and girls’ leadership development. Michelle’s association with Kaleidoscope includes examining the leadership evolution of Kaleidoscope faculty and participants. “The Kaleidoscope program is a vital reaffirmation of the essential process that the best leaders undertake – a continual self-examination and refinement of their best skills and attributes.”  Michelle received her undergraduate degree from Princeton University and her law degree from UCLA’s School of Law. She is a member of the California bar, and is working on a history of global violence against women. Michelle enjoys gardening and travel. She lives in Seattle with her husband Kim, daughter Marika, and two amiable cats.

Ms. Susan Zielenske is the Executive Administrative Assistant of Kaleidoscope. She has certificates in Legal Assistant and Administrative Assistant from DeKalb Community College. Susan has worked for attorneys in general practice law firms that specialize in domestic, corporate, estate planning, probate, personal injury, real estate, criminal and civil litigation matters for over 30 years. She is skilled in analyzing, organizing and maintaining document information as well as drafting legal documents such as pleadings, wills, contracts and real estate closing documents.  She enjoys interacting with attorneys, clients and judicial personnel.  Susan’s multitasking skills and ingenuity allows her to successfully assist in the coordination of the Kaleidoscope Leadership Forum which include managing social media advertising, maintaining the Kaleidoscope Leadership website, managing the registration process for participants and members, coordinating travel arrangements and accommodations of faculty and speakers, as well as being the liaison with our sponsors and meeting and event personnel of the conference centers. Susan loves the outdoors. She enjoys camping, hiking, rafting, horseback riding and traveling with her husband and two children. Susan has a passion for Golden Retrievers, horses, gardening and taking pictures.  Susan resides on a small farm in Covington, Georgia with her husband, Mark.  They have a few cows, one horse, a barn cat, some chickens and, of course, their Golden Retriever, Remington.  
Merri Ann Osborne

Ms. Merri Ann Osborne is a consultant to Kaleidoscope. Merri Ann strongly believes in the power of education and has tutored, mentored and taught students of all ages in Japan, the UK and US.  She brings a variety of skills to Kaleidoscope including a background in international tourism, hospitality and event planning. Merri Ann’s professional life is intertwined with a commitment to community service both locally and internationally. She has served on the City of Seattle Human Rights Commission and volunteered as a community mediatator for the King County Dispute Resolution Center. Merri Ann received her BA in Political Science from UCLA, with a focus on Japanese and Russian politics. As a research student at the International Christian University in Mitaka, Japan, she continued her studies in Japanese Politics and Economics. She received her MA in Conflict Resolution from the University of Bradford, Bradford, England. She has worked in the public and private sectors as an advocate and case manager supporting refugees, asylum seekers, immigrants, homeless families and underserved young adults. Merri Ann looks forward to supporting, collaborating and working with other women of color in higher education and across all professional fields at the Kaleidoscope conference.  Merri Ann now works as an actress, writer, singer and Co-Producer of The Mahogany Project, an arts organization dedicated to supporting and showcasing African-American artists.
 
Carrie Grimwade

Ms. Caroline Grimwade is a consultant to Kaleidoscope. She is an accomplished project management and marketing professional who has worked domestically and internationally. She has worked in industries such as power systems (industrial, oil, marine, and electric power generation), heavy equipment and machinery (construction, mining, paving, forestry, excavation, earth moving, industrial, and waste), and building/property residential and commercial construction/remodeling and resale. As a woman working in predominately male dominated environments, she has firsthand experience with the challenges often faced by women in the workplace. Carrie recently leveraged her skills in a new business venture as the owner of Consult Caroline - a consultancy that offers solutions to simplify, declutter, and organize anything from manufacturing and industrial areas, office space, digital files to homes, basements, and garages. An interesting fact about Carrie is that she was the first woman to serve in the British Reserve Territorial Reserve. She holds dual citizenship in the US/UK, is a traveler and adventurer and has been in over 50 countries. Her favorite past time is everything sailing and water. She has owned a sail boat, sailed in races, and creates inspired nautical art with a British flair for her home. Carrie Grimwade's Resume
